Scared, fearful, nervous or anxious dogs
In the eyes of the fearful dog we live in a "World of a thousand threats"
The great news about dogs with type of problem is we can make their lives so much happier by showing them that they have nothing to fear. A scared dog can simply look unhappy or uncomfortable through to freezing, running away or attacking. The object of a dogs fear can be absolutely anything. There are dogs scared of the wind on the beach, scared of water, lawnmowers, toasters or rooms in the house. The most common fears are actually fear of other dogs and the fear of people.
Recently I helped a lady who's dog had taken to attacking her mobile phone when she answered it! Don't worry about why the dog is scared – that is something you can waste a lifetime trying to guess and never get anywhere!
Often people mistake dogs signalling that they are scared. For example a dog removing itself from any situation, freezing before striking out, looking away and then snapping or excessive panting are all possible signs of fear.
The important thing is knowing how to move the dog from the place of fear – to a position of confidence. I can show you how.

Milo – too scared to walk
Too fearfull to walk down the drive.
From Sunrise TV 3 – click here to watch video.
My husband and I were recently one of Dan's clients with our dog Milo and featured on a TV segment.
We are both extremely happy with the advice that Dan gave us. Milo is a much happier and calmer dog, she is back enjoying walks on and off the lead.
She is more relaxed at home and is listening to our instructions so we are all less stressed. Dan's advice has turned around our dog's behaviour, or more importantly as taught us how we should behave with Milo.
thanks Dan,
regards Lisa and Milo
Cruz – fearful on the walk
Growing in confidence everyday
Heya Doggy Dan,
Thank you for your continued interest in our two dogs. It is good to know, that if any issues arise in the future, you will have no qualms in helping us out.
The good news is that he is now so much more confident around strangers and in general outside the house on walks.
After our meeting with you it was so reassuring to learn why he was so behaving the way he was and how we could help him.
My partner and I believed that we had a good understanding of hierarchy in the dog world, however after the time that you spent with us, it was exciting to learn new techniques to really put us at the top of our dog pack!
Some of your ideas were simple but so effective and we saw immediate changes, especially with Cruz's continued licking and mouthing.
We are continuing to work on his confidence building and ability to socialise with new people and we are seeing progress every week!
Thanks again for your support, regards,
Glynn and Trish

Sika the Fearful Tasmanian Devil!
Fearful, Hyperactive, Dog aggressive, Barking, Separation Anxiety
Sika is our Japanese Spitz she’s about 18 months old she was like the Tasmanian Devil screaming around at 1000km an hour, jumping all over us all the time and just wouldn’t leave us alone for more than 2 seconds, barking at everything that went past the house.
She was also very fearful of going out for walks and appeared quite dog aggressive. This was slowly getting worse, to the point she would be shaking with nerves at the park, and we didn’t feel that was very fair on her.
A friend of ours referred Doggy Dan so we booked him in straight away. He turned up at our house with his two dogs and during that session Sika made friends with the new dogs, and he also cured her persistent barking!
We just couldn’t believe the difference in that few hours. The next day she was so much more settled and appeared a lot happier in herself, she wasn’t jumping all over us, and wasn’t nearly as bad with her barking.
The support website is fantastic, I’ve watched most of the videos and am using the techniques and training tips. Sika is a very quick learner and enjoys the training sessions. She’s been making great progress in the last few months and can now to go to dog kennels as she gets on with the other dogs, and she’s heaps more settled on her walks.
Thanks heaps Dan for helping us help Sika and making her a much happier little dog.
